We arrived just after a storm passed through the previous evening providing us with great snow for skiing. Due to Powderhorn not being a resort destination and relatively remote we were able to find untracked powder all day. Prices were reasonable, the employees and patrons were friendly making for a great first impression.
Wonderful terrain that covers beginner to advanced skiers/snowboarders. Prices are reasonable and the atmosphere is friendly. The snow quality (it snowed 6+ inches the day prior) was excellent.
Not much lodging nearby.

My son and I skied Powderhorn for the first time this year and really enjoyed it! They groomed more of the blues and blacks than what was advertised on the website. The snow was great and the views were stunning. We were there the week before Christmas and had NO lines at all. The West End lift needs a makeover. It takes 15 minutes to get to the top and we were usually really cold by the end of it. There are really only two main lifts (one more serving the greens), which leads to some pretty long trails just to get to the beginning of the runs. Food is limited and overpriced, but it was fine. We had a great time overall.
Short lines, great snow, great views
Slow lift and some long leads to the top of runs

I only ski on powder days, sometimes I wait weeks to go ski. And you go up to powderhorn and they've groomed all the runs on a powder day. They cater to the tourist and don't care about the local pass holders. I've had a pass for years but no more. The food has gotten ridiculously expensive in the last several years. It used to be affordable.
Close to Grand Junction
The food has gotten ridiculously expensive

Hope climate change doesn’t effect our ski area. I would be so sad!
Awesome tree skiing! Shhhh, don’t tell anybody!
Lift 2 is 18 mins long, suggest taking a book if you ski alone.

The mountain is great the snow is decent. I have had a pass for this mountain for the past few years and I have always had a good time, but the last time I went I got a pretty good laceration to my arm and it was bleeding profusely. I went to the ski patrol area to get it wrapped before I left to the clinic for stitches. At the ski patrol tent not only was Rondo extremely rude but not very helpful as he initially brought me a glass of water and a trashcan but no gauze. His tone was aggressive and demeaning as me accidentally getting hurt was an inconvenience for him. He also stated that because of COVID I had to stay outside and he still felt the need to tell me five times as if I'm stupid and cant listen. I then had to ask him for gauze while I was rinsing the blood off my arm. In all, I enjoy the mountain as it itself is awesome, but try not getting hurt up here as from my experience ski patrol seems to have better things to do then patient care, which is their job. It was really disappointing seeing this EMT be rude, uninterested, and annoyed by my presence.
good mountain

If you don’t mind unfriendly employees especially the lifties and a guy at the lift line with some sort of law enforcement badge visible (picture Barney Fife) barking at people to “put your mask on!” (and no not me) along with huge and I mean ridiculously huge lift lines then this is the place for you.
Still thinking
Lift line mask enforcer with shiny plastic badge, huge lift lines
