The on an altitude of 645 – 1833 m located ski region Oberstaufen is one of the large winter sports centres in the Allgäu. Snowmaking equipment in the Skiarena Steibis and in Thalkirchdorf guarantees snow reliability throughout the whole winter season. The ski areas Hündle-Thalkirchdorf and Steibis are especially suitable for beginners and families. If the snow conditions are good, the Hochgrat (with an altitude of 1832 m the highest elevation in the Allgäu) is challenging with it’s up to 6 km long slopes, even for experienced skiers. Cross-country skiers can find 100 km of well-groomed runs in Oberstaufen. Snow reliable until May are the high altitude Hädrich runs. Furthermore, other activities such as snowshoeing, rides in sleighs, tobogganing, ice skating, or Bavarian Curling make your winter vacation in Oberstaufen very diverse.
