For three days in early November, the Portland Expo Center becomes the Northwest's largest ski shop during the 30th annual Portland SkiFever Ski and Snowboard Show with prices slashed as much as 70 percent.
In addition to the two-for-one lift ticket deal included in the price of admission, attendees receive a coupon book good for other discounts during the season.
Resorts and travel companies taking part offer discounts available only at the show. These are concentrated in the hall's resort area.
In another section, representatives from ski and snowboard companies will answer questions. Shoppers often find themselves confused by improvements, and here can ask experts from Salomon, Rossignol, K2, Dynastar, Ride and others.
Local ski and snowboard shops hold a giant sale on the exposition floor. "Every major specialty ski and snowboard retailer in the Northwest will be represented at the show," said David Schindler, who promotes the show. "The selling atmosphere is competitive, which is good news for the customer."
Enthusiasts can also sell used gear at the swap at the show.
Consumers can get ideas for what's new in clothing at the fashion shows featuring Columbia Sportswear, Betty Rides, and others.
Dare-devils can get ideas in the big air and rail jam performances.
There will be hourly drawings for merchandise and trips. The grand prize is an Alaska Airlines "Fun Packed Ski Vacation" to Whistler Blackcomb.
