2016/2017 Nordica La Niña ski review. OnTheSnow tested this ski as part of its women’s Powder Category and awarded it an Editors’ Choice honor.
If you’re an avid skier and storm chaser, you may be wondering what La Niña can do for you. Testers say the Nordica La Niña will guarantee good flotation. “This steep and deep loving ski wants to go fast for many laps—but do your squats because you need to be strong to get them on edge,” says Harkins. The 113-mm-waisted freeski features Nordica’s Powder camROCK Profile, which combines a blunt rockered tip and tail with camber underfoot—designed to increase edge snow contact and also aid flotation. The sandwich construction includes a lightweight wood core with a layer of carbon extended over the edges. Though less impressed with La Niña’s versatility, testers awarded it high marks for flotation, prompting (fingers crossed) a good sign of storms to come. “Torsionally rigid underfoot but softer in the shovel and tail results in a bomber ski for the deep days,” says Rodman.
