2016/2017 K2 Luv Boat 105 ski review. OnTheSnow tested this ski as part of its women’s Powder Category.

The construction is a mouthful: Bioflex Konic-Aspen-Paulownia-Nanolite with a metal laminate. Translation? K2 designed the Luv Boat 105 to float, and indeed testers gave it high marks for powder performance, with lower scores for carving. “All aboard… this ship is ready for all conditions,” quips Johnson. “It’s a hospitable ski for a range of abilities.” The 105-mm-waisted ski has a thin layer of metal laminate added for stability, but the lightweight core is designed for forgiveness and easy flex. K2’s women-specific Bioflex Konic core technology combines a low-density composite center core with denser fir and aspen wood around the ski’s edges. The sidewalls underfoot are blended with a durable cap construction that’s located in the slow rise rockered tip and tapered, rockered tails. “The ski felt planky on hardpack so keep it in the soft stuff,” says Muecke.
