2016/2017 K2 Pinnacle 88 ski review. OnTheSnow tested this ski as part of its All-Mountain Front Category and awarded it an Editors’ Choice honor.

K2 says the Pinnacle 88 is “a bridge between resort and freeride.” Testers agree: “East coast, west coast, either way, this quick and playful ski suits a wide range of skiers, terrain and conditions,” says Witman. The 88-mm-waisted ski received one of the highest grades of all skis for the playfulness criteria, with lower marks for stability. All four Pinnacle skis (from 118-mm to 88-mm) employ K2’s Konic Technology, which combines a light composite center core with denser wood around the ski’s edges. K2 adds sidewalls underfoot blended with cap construction located in the slow rise rockered tip and tapered rockered tails. Unlike the widest in the grouping, the Pinnacle 88 has a metal laminate fir and composite Nanolite core. “The big tip gets you on the top of the snow, but the ski has more than that—it’s solid and predictable, even at speed,” says Gaudet.
