2016/2017 Völkl Kendo ski review. OnTheSnow tested this ski as part of its men’s All-Mountain Front Category.

“Harness the power out of each turn with this strong, agile ski,” says Witman of the Völkl Kendo. “This ski crushes the category—it plows through piled up snow, carves well and excels on steep ice.” Testers rated the 90-mm-waisted ski highest totals for stability, less favorably for float. The Kendo’s race-inspired torsion box construction creates a “box” layup with a full layer of Titanal, a multi layer wood core and vertical sidewalls. Unlike the wider, fully-rockered Mantra, the Kendo has a moderate tapered shape with tip and tail rocker. “It might be slightly heavy and stiff for some, but an aggressive skier needs only to point ‘em and go,” says Gaudet.
